Summer 2014 Conclusion

Welcome (And Obligatory SPOILER ALERT)

Here we are with yet another review-esque post. Below this I'll list off all the summer anime that I have completed (in alphabetical order), with the exception of a few that are ongoing into fall. The ones bolded I will go more in-depth on whereas the others I'll briefly write about. Hope that you've enjoyed your summer season of anime, and without further ado I'll hop right into it.

Watched:
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
Glasslip
Haikyuu!!
Hanayamata
Locodol
Mahouka
Rail Wars!
Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?
Tokyo Ghoul
Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories 2

Ongoing:
Akame ga Kill!
Serei Tsukai no Blade Dance
Sword Art Online II

Akame ga Kill!

I think that there are a lot of varying opinions of Akame ga Kill! Many people seem to like it because of how "brutal and dark" it is. Then there are people who dislike the way that comedy is added in at times and it gets in the way of what could be a good anime.

What I think is that Akame ga Kill! is fine the way it is. I don't hold anything against the comedy that is included and I am relatively engaged in the story. The funny thing is that I actually didn't think too highly of this anime when the first few episodes came out, but it's grown on me.

OP is nice, and ED is fantastic. Besides that nothing else stands out for me.

24 episodes. I'm actually quite glad for this because it gives a chance for the anime to become a lot better. Like many others I'm hoping that this will be something that I can remember and come to really like.

As of now the story is going somewhere, and I hope it stays that way. The episode preview for today looked pretty interesting, as if seems that Tatsumi and Esdeath end up some random place and have to get to work together.

Best Girl: Chelsea/Esdeath

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

This was actually the best anime of the season (for me at least). Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is a great comedy/romance anime and I just can't get enough of it. It's a huge shame that it's ended, as I really liked it.

It had amazing comedy and timing, along with fun, lovable and engaging characters. The OP was upbeat and catchy, with a pretty decent ED. Everybody's pushing for the actual romantic ending, but instead we get what Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun has delivered this whole time. Laughs.

This anime does not disappoint. It left me playing the ending (the very very very ending, after the credits) over and over again, laughing my head off. I can only wish that everything was like Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.

Best Girl: Sakura Chiyo

Glasslip

I had a tough time getting through Glasslip. While it got a little bit better with each episode, that isn't saying much since I was pretty close to dropping it. In the ending everything comes together and I felt that Glasslip didn't really deserve a 5 on my MAL. If something had changed, and I mean like a huge change, then maybe, just maybe I could have enjoyed it. But the way it is right now, well, I just didn't feel like watching episodes as they came out. On a positive note, the OP was nice.

Best Girl: Touko Fukami (she doesn't really deserve Best Girl, but out of all them I'd chose her)

Haikyuu!!

Volleyball anime. I play volleyball, so it was apparent that I was going to enjoy Haikyuu!! And I wasn't left hanging. It was a good watch, and I'm really hoping for a season two. There isn't really much else for me to say here. If you liked stuff like Kuroko, then maybe you'd be into Haikyuu!!

Best Girl: Shimizu Kiyoko (Manager-san)

Hanayamata

Uhm. Kawaii girls doing kawaii things (like dancing yosakoi) is how I would sum up Hanayamata. The anime is hard to get into in the beginning but eventually the pace picks up. There wasn't anything I particularly liked or disliked about this anime. Overall just your typical kawaii anime.

Best Girl: Tami Nishimikado

Locodol

Locodol is more or less on the same wavelength as Hanaymata. It's about two girls from a small town who become these sort of local idols (hence the name). If there was another anime I had to say that I didn't look forward to, it was probably Locodol. A pretty average watch, something not needed for this season.

Best Girl: Yukari Kohinata

Mahouka

Started as a "oh what the hell" type of thing because of incest. Slowly grew to dislike and hate the anime. Then for some reason the last episode really got me. Maybe it was the hint of a second season. Maybe it was because of the new aunt character. Hell, maybe it was just because I wanted something silly to watch. But for whatever reason Mahouka didn't leave as bitter a taste in my mouth as what I had initially expected.

Best Girl: Mayumi Saegusa

Rail Wars!

Mindless ecchi with some action scenes. I think I learned a bit about trains from this, but not much. OP and ED were painful for me to listen to, but that's just me.

Best Girl: Holy god do I actually have to pick; Haruka Koumi

Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?

Before I say anything more about Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? let me tell you that I actually enjoyed it, because what I'm about to say next may sound like I'm bashing it.

I thought that this anime definitely could have been a lot better (fingers crossed for a season two). Because of the sheer amount of characters I think there just wasn't enough air time to go around for everybody. This is why I'm really just hanging in there for the second season. The comedy is somewhat bland at times, but I mean, it really just is a harem at the end of the day.

OP and ED both good stuff.

Best Girl: Harumi Sakuraba

Serei Tsukai no Blade Dance

WATCH FOR LOLIS OBTAIN BLUSHES AND CUTE SOUNDS IGNORE FIGHT SCENES.

Best Girl: Fianna Ray Ordesia

Sword Art Online II

Hell of a lot better than season one (at least the latter half of season one) is what I can say. With the latest episode I can actually say that it's getting interesting and I'm looking forward to episodes. Hoping that the whole Death Gun arc will end sometime soon and usher in a new arc, because they could do something nice with it.

OP is meh, ED is pretty good.

I think there's a bit too much emphasis on Sinon's bottom, butt I mean what can you do about it?

Best Girl: Shino Asada

Tokyo Ghoul

To explain the ride I went on with Tokyo Ghoul, let's use a few words. Ehhhhhhhhh, then ahhhhh, then ohhhhh, then this-is-actually-good, then ehhhhh, then ehhh, and then stop-the-pain-2015. The ending made the anime fall flat on its face (in another words, a big no no). There should definitely be a season two or at least some sort of OVA to give proper closure. The whole last episode ordeal with Taneki fighting inside his head was really just a pain to watch. I mean, for another episode, sure, but NOT THE LAST EPISODE GOD ANYTHING BUT THAT.

There was definitely an interesting setup, with all the ghouls and what-not, but I think the opportunity that was given was wasted. I'm not saying Tokyo Ghoul is dreadful, but the gore and whole dark side of this anime just failed to really get to me.

Tokyo Ghoul will have a hard time becoming an anime that I will regard as "good". I've heard the manga is nice reading though. A good thing is that the OP and ED aren't half bad.

Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories 2

I think what most people think. The second season is nothing compared to the first. Not even spooky anymore. That's a shame.

Gah This Was A Big Post

Really tired now. I spent quite a bit on this.

I'm an 8 for today. School tomorrow. See you in the next post.

Felt Like Writing

Really Needed To Write

I dunno. I've been chatting away with some friends this evening and all of the sudden I really wanted to write up a post. Earlier today I had this urge but pushed it aside because I wanted to make my next post an anime centered one (and I just wanted to finish off Rokujouma's last episode tomorrow). This will most likely be a post that's all over the place and messy in general, but hopefully you'll stick along today.

School

Settling into my classes. Falling right back into step with friends. Everything has been going swimmingly these past few days. I'm glad to be able to be around my friends again, although I do feel a bit sad that my days of staying home all day are gone.

There are things that are weird. Sometimes I don't know whether I should say hello or wave or do something when I pass by somebody in the halls. I also feel disconnected from a lot of people, and it makes me kind of sad, considering that I'm the grade rep and all. However there isn't much that I do as a rep anyhow.

Naming And Domain

Figuring out a name for the anime site. Probably gonna work off a sub-domain provided by my friend. It'll be weird for the first while but we can always change things up if we get anywhere. Work being done I suppose. Kind of scared as to how much time I can put into this because Bio has proven itself to be an intensive course so far.

Planning To Run

I want to run and increase my stamina along with overall health. It's been pretty bad weather these past few days though so I'm hoping that it'll clear up eventually.

And now I don't want to write anymore about myself. Uhhh, sorry for the suddenness of it all. There might be a post tomorrow. Maybe on Saturday. It'd be nice to have some space between this post and the next. I'm an 8 tonight.

Another First Day

It's Done

Had a good time at school today. It was a really short day, but I think that's for the best because it would've felt weird to simply jump into the regular schedule all of the sudden. It doesn't seem like anybody has really changed, but I'm really looking forward to this school year. For courses I'm actually extremely happy that I a) got all of the courses that I wanted and b) my teachers sound great. So all in all a fun day. Helped out some grade eights for the majority of the day. Funny thing: this year I ended up getting the same locker that I had in grade eight.

Anime Post Coming Up Soon-ish

Brace yourselves (random picture from Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun for the purpose of filling up space).

/: That's All From Me Today

School should be back in full swing tomorrow. Excited to get to my classes.

I'm an 8 tonight. See you in the next post ^^

New Post *Much Wow*

School's Coming Back

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey welcome back to my life school. How was your vacation? Mine? Bleck. Sure it had some nice points to it but mostly it was terrible without you. Aww, I love you too.

So on a more serious note (how serious can this blog actually be?) school is actually resuming next Monday for me. After seeing some friends this afternoon I found out that everybody hasn't changed at all and that I shouldn't be as awkward as I was at the beginning of grade nine.

I'm excited, yet terrified of the upcoming school year.

NEW FITNESS REGIMEN

Decided that I would go running every few days to try to improve my stamina (and because I probably won't be doing too much of that in weight training anyways) and to supplement my other activities. I think it'll overall be a really nice benefit for me because I tend to eat a lot and not do anything (or at least that's the pattern that's been happening this summer).

Speaking of something related to health, I'm kinda sick. Hopefully I'll get better by tomorrow morning (I should be asleep by now though).

Short Post, You Can Leave Now ^^

Thanks for reading this time around, hope to see your beautiful face next time I decide to post (probably on Monday or something?).

Kevin for today is an 8. Feeling under the weather but besides that everything else is doing decently.

Life Updates And More Rambling

Volunteering Stuff

A few nights ago I was told that the community center around here needed some help with volunteers so I ended up sending an email to the coordinator (or something, I'm not quite too sure on what position it is) last night. I got a reply this morning and now I'm set for an interview type of thing tomorrow afternoon. I'm looking forward to this because it'll give me a chance for something to this summer.

Just wanted to let you know what's been going on lately.

Mind Reader Kevin

Does it sound possible?

No?

Poop.

For anybody who has read this blog for a long time, you may recall one or two posts where I wrote that I wanted the ability to be able to read minds. I mean, wouldn't it be just the greatest thing to know what people were thinking? You'd be able to use your own judgement and come up with the best possible thing to say or do in your particular scenario.

Erm... Goodbye For Now *Sparkles*

That's it for this post (gosh how many times have I said that over the past three years or so?). Until next time my wonderful reader.

I'm an 8 tonight.

Welcome Ayase To The Wall Of Best Girls

Ayase Aragaki

Yes, the original best girl, straight out of OreImo. I have finally added her to my famed Wall of Best Girls, along with Shiina and Chitoge. So I'd just like everybody to give her a warm welcome to the blog of Kevin Zou and to make her feel at home. I know it will be a rough first few days for Ayase, but I'm confident that she'll fit in fine.

And for anybody who has no idea of what the heck I'm talking about, I added a new GIF to the right sidebar (it's the same one that you see right now).

School Please Come Back

Life is boring. That is all.

But seriously. Out of all things that could have been made a big deal about, school was chosen. I might have said this before, but I don't really have a voice on the whole ordeal. I don't know enough about it and I think picking sides is the last thing that I should do (not that it would have a profound effect on anything).

I'll take it all back. The stressful days. The homework.

tl;dr school ily bb don't do this to me

Well, That's It For Tonight People

That's a wrap. Cut.

The Last Minute Push For Gold

League Related

STEP ASIDE IF YOU DO NOT PARTICULARLY CARE ABOUT THE GAME KNOWN AS LEAGUE OF LEGENDS BECAUSE HOLY MOLY YOU'RE ABOUT TO GET AN ASS WHOOPING OF IT.

Ah what a nice CAPS LOCK ridden start to yet another post on this horrendous blog (jokes on me, because it still looks more fab than me). I managed to drop from a comfortable Silver II position to rock bottom in Silver V, to the point where I was nearly demoted to league-that-shall-not-be-named, but thanks to a bunch of duo queue and the solo queue gods smiling down on me I clawed my way back up to my Silver IV promos.

Going for Gold before season ends. Go hard or go home.

Thresh is life. Thresh is love.

Spud Patrol

I went to Spud Patrol today. It was fun (just like the other handful of times I went), albeit short. Forgot how much I liked being a part of Spud Patrol, but I'll definitely be looking forward to participating in the rest of them.

Alright that's all that I've got for this little post. I'm an 8 tonight. I haven't asked in a while, but how are you?

Feeling Much Better

It's Been... Four Days?

Fun fact: I usually don't remember what I've done in the past few days. It's a big reason towards my tendency of using the term "in the past few days" as opposed to more specific things such as "yesterday" or "three days ago".

But yeah. It's been... a few days since I had my wisdom teeth extracted. The little pain is negligible, but I'm still hesitant to chew foods with the back of my mouth and talk at full volume. I'm expecting a full recovery by tomorrow or at least Saturday (going to Spud Patrol this Saturday in fact).

For anybody who was wondering the details to my whole wisdom-teeth-ordeal, well here it is. After an x-ray it was determined that I had two wisdom teeth on the bottom half of my mouth that were crooked. Supposedly this would've majorly messed up the rest of my teeth so my dentist said that I should get them removed. I don't know too much about wisdom teeth, but I've heard that it's unusual for a person my age to take them out.

New Revamp On The Blog Coming Up

Even though I really love the current banner, I feel like this blog needs a little change on the design. I might incorporate some old themes of the banner into the new one (most likely a better version of the Chitoge GIF), but besides that I'm looking to go all out on the new design.

Don't expect this "update" to come anytime soon. It's kind of like the anime blog (which I'll be noting shortly after this): very much up in the air.

*Sigh* The Anime Blog

No work done on it so far. The vision and planning looks nice, but to be realistic I have done nothing. I'm going to say I feel that I don't want to start this because I'm not sure on my ability to follow through with it completely. So in that case, I will make a promise (to any few people who were relatively looking forward to this anime blog).

I will put up an official yes or no by the time the school year resumes. Once I get a better idea of how much work I will be doing and how much time I can put into the blog I'll be able to say something. But for now... you really shouldn't look for anything.

Anime Season Ending Soon

Yeah wow I still wish school was in right now. Anyhow, the summer season is ending in a few weeks so you'll probably see something along the likes of this rolling out when that time comes.

I've been kinda cold lately. Slight fever. My hands and feet get really cold in the morning so I've taken up the habit of wearing socks and long sleeves. Besides that everything is alright on my side. I'm an 8 for today. Stomach's been kinda funny, but nothing too serious.
